Skin friendly smoothie recipe
There is so much focus in the beauty world on treating the skin from the outside and not so much about treating your skin from the inside. I have learned that what we eat has a massive impact on how our skin looks. This drink has a power mix of nutrients in it that help to hydrate, strengthen and smooth the skin, along with offering anti-ageing properties and helping to minimise skin damage from the sun. This is a good one for kiddies due to its chocolate and strawberry combination and you are sneaking other veggies into it, too!
25g dark chocolate (85% cocoa solids), roughly chopped or 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
150ml unsweetened almond or rice milk or water, at room temperature
100g strawberries, hulled
½ ripe tomato, roughly chopped
½ carrot, peeled and roughly chopped
3 walnut halves ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
Melt the chocolate in a small pan on the hob or in a bowl in the microwave. Remove and leave to cool to room temperature. Skip this step if using cocoa powder instead. Put all the ingredients in a blender or NutriBullet and blitz for 30 seconds until smooth. Pour into a glass and serve.
